This Privacy Policy explains how MathMonkeys LLC (“MathMonkeys,” “we,” or “us”) handles information in connection with the LiveMath application and related services (the “Software”).
In short: your mathematical work stays on your device. We collect your account email and name to give you access, and your subscription status to keep your license active. Crash reports stay on your device unless you choose to email one to us. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Scope
This Policy applies to the LiveMath application on all platforms on which we distribute it, including the Apple App Store, Google Play, and direct downloads, and to purchases of Distance Calculus subscriptions made in connection with the Software. It does not apply to third-party services that have their own privacy policies, which are identified in Section 5.
Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to provide the Software and manage your license:
- Account information
- Your email address and name, when you create an account or subscribe. Used to identify you, provide access, and contact you about your account.
Linked to you - Purchase & subscription data
- Records of the tier you purchased, subscription status, renewal and expiration dates, and platform of purchase. Payment card numbers are processed by the platform or payment processor and are not received or stored by us.
Linked to you - Crash reports
- If the Software crashes, you may choose to enable CrashReporter, which writes a crashreport.txt file on your device. Nothing is sent to us unless you decide to email that file to us yourself. We do not collect crash or diagnostic data automatically. See Section 4.
On device unless you send it - Your mathematical work
- Notebooks and documents you create are stored on your device. We do not collect or transmit your User Content except where you explicitly use a feature that sends it (none is enabled by default).
On device
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- create and authenticate your account and provide access to the Software;
- process and maintain your subscription, including renewals, expirations, and license validation;
- provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- diagnose and fix problems, if you choose to email us a crash report; and
- comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal information.
Voluntary Bug Reporting
Bug reporting is entirely voluntary. The Software does not enable CrashReporter by default, does not record diagnostics in the background, and does not send anything to us automatically. If you never turn on CrashReporter and never email us a report, no crash or diagnostic information ever leaves your device.
If you do choose to send us a crashreport.txt file, it may contain technical information such as your device model, operating system version, the Software version, and the state of the application at the time of the crash. We use the contents solely to diagnose and fix the problem you reported, and we retain it only as long as needed to do so.
Third-Party Services
The Software relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Apple In-App Purchase / StoreKit — processes purchases and subscriptions made through the Apple App Store. Apple handles your payment information; we receive only your subscription status and transaction records.
- Google Play Billing — processes purchases and subscriptions made through Google Play, on the same basis as above.
Crash reports are not handled by any third-party service. If you choose to email us a crashreport.txt file, it comes to us directly. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of Apple and Google to understand how they handle payment and account information on their platforms.
How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- with the service providers identified in Section 5, to the extent needed to provide the Software;
- to comply with applicable law, legal process, or enforceable governmental request;
- to protect the rights, property, or safety of MathMonkeys, our users, or others; and
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change in how your information is handled.
Data Retention
We retain account and subscription information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Software, then for the period required to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Diagnostic reports that you choose to send are retained only as long as needed to diagnose and resolve the relevant issue.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13. We will respond as required by applicable law.
Residents of California and the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and similar jurisdictions have specific rights under the CCPA/CPRA and the GDPR/UK GDPR, respectively, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
You can manage or cancel subscriptions, and request refunds, through the platform from which you purchased (the Apple App Store or Google Play).
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
Children’s Privacy
The Software is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us using the details in Section 13.
International Users
MathMonkeys is based in the United States, and your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. These jurisdictions may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Software after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
